General Job Description:
Support the transmission of Starz Entertainment (SE) program services on satellite and terrestrial methods. Perform broadcast encoding system installations, testing, and ongoing maintenance for key systems such as Motorola systems, Internet broadband, Tandberg MediaPath, Digital Rapids video encoders systems and advanced encoding processes for supporting the expanded transport projects of SE. Provides daily hands-on troubleshooting, monitoring, project planning, upgrade installations, documentation tracking, and general interdepartmental support. Will provide daily technical status reports as required by management. Receive site authorization support limit to minimal telephone support. Maintain and troubleshoot Starz Motorola’s broadcast encoder systems. Maintain and troubleshoot Starz Tandberg MediaPath VOD delivery system. Manage and support the EIA CATV system and proposed IPTV system for SE. Install and tests systems for on-air services. Support MPEG2, MPEG4 and alternant codex processes for SE development engineering. Interface with outside vendors, suppliers and internal staff to resolve system failures. Technically collaborates with Technology, Operations, Engineering, and IT departments to resolve systems problems. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot complex computer systems using Unix, SQL, Linux, and Sybase operating systems. Provide on call technical services to support systems during off-hours. Provide cross-functional support for HPA and Dish Farm transmission systems. Implement and support new technology upgrades for chain transmission systems. Thoroughly document and maintain documentation of technology upgrades and hardware/software revisions. Provide support of NCS, UCS, BNC, and Subscriber Management and Authorization Systems. Perform other engineering duties as assigned by SE management.
Required Skills:
Associates Degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school. Knowledge of video transmission equipment and systems. Superior verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated systems problem solving skills.
